Pre-Race Checklist
1 Jan by Brian Shotola
Here’s a pre-race checklist for added preparedness:
- Hard ear helmet (FIS soft ear allowed for slalom)
- Goggles (2 pair with appropriate lenses for conditions)
- Gloves/Mittens (2 pair)
MWAR Bib
Socks (2 pair)
- Face mask/turtle
Hand & foot warmers
- Snacks,
- Water,
- Gatorade
- Slalom
- Pole guards, chin bar, and armor as needed
- Boots
- Skis (write your name on them or uniquely mark them)
- Poles (easily forgotten) (write your name on them or uniquely mark them)
- Extra poles if you have them (they break more often than you might think)
- Race suit (not required, especially for our youngest athletes)
- Full-zip pants/shorts if wearing a suit
- Layers as needed
- Paid Race Competition Fee (Racers can wrap their ticket around their goggle strap if racing in a suit)
- Waivers
If your athlete does plan on racing in a race suit, please plan to have them in pants or shorts that are easily removable. Generally most athletes have full zip pants for this purpose. This way athletes can wear their pants and jacket to the top and remove them there. On cold days this is necessary so that they don't freeze on the lift up. Coaches will be prepared with capes for the athletes while they wait in line at top after they have stripped down.
Please feel welcome to add to this list in the comments.
